One of the guys that has played a big role in their season is 2020 guard Ishmael Leggett. Leggett has shown that he can finish at the rim even though he is a smaller guard and also has the capabilities of hitting jumpers from different areas on the court. Out of the many talented 2020 prospects in the area, I believe Leggett is one of the most underrated guys out there. He spoke to us on how big of a win it was against Bishop O’Connell.
“We just tried to push the pace early, throw the first punch. Back in their house they got us in overtime and we just had to go out there and prove a point that we are not an easy team to beat.”
He feels like the team has a good vibe heading into postseason play, “This win was just momentum for us, we want to finish the regular season out strong and get as much momentum as we can going into the playoffs, we are ready for war.”
When asked on how he would describe his game when he is at his best, he said, “I feel like I am at my best when I just let the game come to me, I always try to get open so my teammates can get me the ball but if that is not happening, I will always try hard to get my teammates involved and it is just a fun atmosphere to play in when we are rolling like that.”
A lot of the local schools are interested in getting him to join their program at the next level, “Recruitment is going great, a lot of coaches are coming out to see me. I enjoy when they come and we talk afterwards, I get a feel for them and they get a feel for me and it is a great experience all around.”
He went on to say that “George Mason, LaSalle, George Washington, Mount St. Mary’s and Loyola (MD)” are schools that are coming at him hard. He was able to speak about two of those schools with us.
George Mason: “The Head Coach has been in a lot to see me and I enjoy hearing what they have to say and I think it would be a great program for me and my further years.”
George Washington: “It is another great school and I am blessed to be given an opportunity by them and I like what they have to offer.”
