It was the best performance I have ever seen from Walker has he finished with 27 points and looked locked in from start to finish. He has improved his body a lot since the last time I have seen him which helps take his game up a notch. We were able to catch up with him on a various amount of topics
He was ecstatic after the win and talked to us about what it means, “It means everything, we fought so hard, we got better from the beginning of the season so it means everything to play in the championship.”
With .1 seconds left, Shawn drew a foul when his team was down 1 and he seemed pretty confident he would hit the game winning free throws when he went to the line, “I just tried to stay poised, stay calm and it was just 2 out of a million free throws that I have shot over the course of my life. I had a smirk on my face while I was shooting because I already knew they were going to go in.”
Earlier in the year Walker chose to commit to Siena and he talked to us about why he chose them, “Because I feel like it was the perfect fit. Coach Christian is my type of guy and I like him a lot. I love the program there, it is a big family so overall it is a really good fit for me.”
He went on to explain to us how he expects to be used in their system, “As a point guard and just basically using all the tools of my game. Being able to play the 1, 2 and 3, being able to guard three positions and maybe even the 4.”
When asked on what it is going to take to win a championship on Saturday, he said, “We just have to bring it from the beginning of the game.”
