Class 6 Sub-State 1
- Blue Valley Northwest (17-2) 8. Olathe South (10-9) 9. Olathe West (10-9) 16. Olathe Northwest (6-14) 17. Wyandotte (4-14)
Christian Braun, 6’7, G, 2019, Blue Valley Northwest
An elite player with the ball who attracts all the defensive attention in the word put still manages to score whenever he wants from inside, outside and in between. Braun has great handles and makes great decisions with the ball. A crafty scorer who who knows how to pass, create on the move and improvise in transition. An above the rim specialist with great size for a point and scoring guard.
Jack Chapman, 6’5, G, 2021, Blue Valley Northwest
A solid player who stays active inside, has great hands and can connect from deep. Chapman moves well on the floor and is great at playing off the ball. He has the skill and versatility to play any of the guard or wing positions. He can finish well in traffic and has the mobility and motor to compete at a high level.
Ben Gutekunst, 6’0, G, 2021, Olathe Northwest
An energetic player with great vision and a competitive drive. Gutekunst is great at improvising when he needs to. He is a pass first guard who can shoot, but is always looking to make a smooth assist. He can score at all three levels and good at maintaining his speed throughout all four quarters.
Alston Mason, 6’0, G, 2021, Olathe West
A quick player who has an explosive first step. Mason is a bouncy player who can shake off tight coverage and create open looks for himself and his teammates with his dribble. He is a confident shooter both inside the arc and behind it. He has a lot of control to his game and has great court vision and an unselfish game.
Kobe McKinley, 6’4, G, 2019, Olathe South
McKinley is a good team player who can score and play solid minutes on defense. He is an athletic wing who can handle the ball a little, pull up from mid-range and score inside. He slashes well and contributes through his effort and movement with and without the ball.
Dominic Messina, 5’10, G, 2019, Olathe West
A strong player who has great handles and a knack for finding a way around defenders. He likes to attack the basket off the dribble and brings strength and fight to the position. He has a physical nature to him and a good frame. He excels at finishing around defenders as he score on the move or at the free throw line.
Sam Nicodemus, 5’9, G, 2020, Olathe West
A small, left handed guard who can handle the ball under pressure and create his own shot. He has good handles and is a crafty scorer and passer. He picks his spots and likes to push the temp and pass ahead. A team player who pushes himself.
