While we are all enjoying the holiday, a key question has to be asked. What senior basketball player in Louisiana could end up being the president of the United States?
Jordan Wright 6’5 G Dunham:
Jordan is a leader on and off the court, and it is as simple as that. When he is on the court, he puts guys in spots to be successful, and makes those around him better. He is a very successful student, and is putting a lot of weight into on academics and the level of engineering program the school has, when considering his college choice. He is also pretty funny, which certainly helps when running for president.
Hunter Dean 6’9 F Lakeshore
Hunter is another really intelligent student-athlete. He boasts a really impressive GPA, as well as a very high ACT score. He has clearly put a lot of work into his game, showing an impressive work ethic. He comes from a military family, with his father Chad being a former Marine. Plus he is super tall, and people tend to naturally follow taller people.
Damiree Burns 6’6 F Sophie B. Wright
Damiree is definitely one of the first kids that I think of when I think of leaders in the 2019 class. One of the most impressive moments that I had following him this summer involved a game that he wasn’t even playing in. During a game for Louisiana Supreme’s 16u team (keep in mind Damiree played 17u), Damiree was sitting on the bench cheering and coaching the 16u players. During timeouts, he was getting waters, as well as leading crowd cheers. I think that says a lot about his character, and those are the type of characteristics I am looking for in a leader.
Kaleb Jenkins 5’10 PG Country Day
When I am considering the characteristics that make a good for a good president, in my mind, those are the same characteristics I am looking for in a point guard. A selfless leader that is willing to sacrifice for the good of those around them. Someone who does the dirty work, and is willing to give others credit during times of success and taking the blame when things aren’t going well. I think that describes Kaleb Jenkins to a T.
