Prep Hoops All-MOAC Team:
Isaiah Alsip (6’0 / G 2020 / Galion): Isaiah Alsip was simply the best offensive player in the MOAC this year. A quick guard that got it done at all three-levels offensively. A sharpshooter that can blow by you and finish at the rim. Good ball handler who isn’t afraid of the moment. The best single game performance that you’ll possibly see this season. Going for 15 points in under a minute to get his team a big road win. Also, the Junior guard led the league in scoring at 20.6 points a game. However, Alsip is also a factor on defense, swiping 2.4 steals per contest.
AJ Kenney(6’5 / F 2019 / River Valley): Kenney was the most dominant inside player in the MOAC this season. The big-framed Viking was a double-double threat every game he played in. Good for 16.7 points and 9.8 rebounds a game, a big time difference maker. A physical player that has a handful of post moves that are hard to defend. Also, moves well without the ball. Can even step out and shoot it at times. A deserving selection for all-conference.
TJ Pugh (6’5 / WF 2021 / Shelby): In my own opinion, the best all-around player in the MOAC. Way ahead of his time already as a sophomore, Pugh is able to affect the game in many ways. Scoring in the lane is a strength, but also has the ability to shoot it, doesn’t need to often however. Has next level foot work already, as a 2021 player. Averaged 16.3 points and 8.2 rebounds per game this season. The Shelby Whippets best player as a sophomore, is also a defensive factor. Has a longer frame in which he was a force in passing lanes and inside. With a lot of room to grow his game, Pugh is a player to continue to watch after this season. However, this year he has showed what it takes to be all-conference.
Dylan Herbert (6’1 / G 2020 / Buckeye Valley): Dylan Herbert burst onto the season last season, as a guard with big scoring ability. This season it has been much of the same. The fast guard is capable of playing on and off the ball at a high level. Putting in 15.9 PPG, Herbert was the best offensive player for the Barons. The ability to score from anywhere has been an absolute strength. Also, a solid creator for his team. With 3.6 assists per game, Herbert has a knack for finding open teammates. A solid all-conference selection.
Brennan South (6’0 / G 2020 / Clear Fork): Brennan South was the best player on the best team in the MOAC this season. With the ability to let it fly at a high level, South netted 15.1 PPG. South can play the one or the two out on the court, running the offense smoothly. Adding 3.5 assists to his numbers is testimonial to how well the Junior can orchestrate the offense. I believe Brennan will take his game to even another level his Senior season. However, an all-conference selection as a Junior will do.
