Prep Hoop All-OCC Ohio Team:
Javohn Garcia (6’3 / G 2019 / Pickerington Central): Mid-Major D1 programs still needing a guard this cycle should be all over Garcia. A big time impact player, has lead Pickerington Central to a terrific one-loss season. Taking over for Jeremiah Francis last year, Garcia took his game to another level. A tough guard that can do everything, put up 20.3 points a game for the Tigers this season. The stud Senior went for 11 games over the 20 point mark, a proven showtime style player. Garcia will earn many accolades this season, as he is one of the best guards in the entire state.
Jack Sawyer (6’5 / F 2021 / Pickerington North): You will see the five-star football player out on the field for Ohio State in a couple years, but during the fall he’s a bucket on the court. This season Sawyer was a huge part of a successful Pick North Panthers team, that had some nice wins. The Sophomore led the conference in scoring at 21.8 points per contest, which isn’t done often by underclass-men. Sawyer is a rebounding machine, using his big frame to his advantage. A matchup problem for most teams, the 6’5 Sophomore had 14 games of 20 or more points, which is absurd. Central Ohio should appreciate being able to watch an athlete like this, as they don’t come around often.
Ben Fort (6’5 / WF 2019 / Reynoldsburg): Ben Fort is a big time athlete that showed the ability to play above the rim often this year. The Senior has the skill-set to play LM D1 basketball, at the least. Averaging 14.3 points per game, Fort was an absolute stud for a solid Reynoldsburg team. A longer frame, the Senior has the intangibles that affect the game on both sides. Scoring in double-digits in all but four games, Fort showed big time scoring consistency. A deserving player for Prep Hoops All Conference Team.
Elijah Thomas (6’1 / G 2019 / Gahanna Lincoln): Gahanna had two big time guards this season, a freshman and a Senior. One of them being Elijah Thomas, a solid scoring option for Lincoln all season long. The Senior was top five in the conference in scoring, sitting at just over 15 points a night. Thomas can score in a variety of ways, which is complex for some teams. Only scoring in single-digits twice this season, the 6’1 guard made it known he was going to get what he wanted on the stat sheet. An under-the-radar style player that is worthy.
Coleton Landis (6’7 / F 2019 / Pickerington Central): The Rio Grande commit has had a successful Senior season for the Pick Central Tigers. The big man was a force inside at 6’7, as well as some touch to step outside a bit. With a longer frame Landis made it tough on opposing teams on both sides of the court, all season long. A double-double kind of guy, also put up just over 12 points a game for the team in purple. Landis found himself in double-digit points 11 times this year, one of the best players inside in the area.
