Playoff’s Prospect Upshot: Klein Forest vs Cypress Springs
It is the 2nd Rd (area) of the playoffs. In this match-up, District Champions collide in a battle to move on to the round of 32 (quarters). Klein Forest Eagles are 28-3 overall and Cypress Springs Panthers is 27-9 overall. We were in attendance to witness the game. Here are the synopsis and upshot of the game.
As the game tipped off Klein Forest was in control the entire game. They came out with a ferocious full court press. The Panthers could not shake the defense and had a handful of turnovers within the first 3 minutes of the game. The Eagles were moving on the flight of the ball. Applied a lot of pressure that the Panthers were not ready for. Klein Forest was able to get in the lane and finished well at the rim. Cypress Spring was able to get a lot of points in the paint. They could not knock down the long ball at a high rate. They had great ball movement also. Cypress Springs couldn’t get in a groove offensively until the game was already out of hand.

Played solid the entire game. Quick first step. Uses his speed well on both sides of the ball. Quick hands to deflect passes and stealing the ball. Had a nice coast to coast score where he was changing speeds. Utilized his mid-range game. Shot the ball well from behind the arc also. Great choices offensively throughout the game. Finished with 18 points, 4 assist, and 3 steals. Shot 3/4-3FG.
Calvin Solomon 6’6 F / Klein Forest / 2019 PHTX200
PLayed with a chip on his shoulder the entire game. Finished well in the paint at a super high rate. Played the passing lanes. Solid on-ball defense. Had 3 dunks in the game, two of which were putbacks over opponents. He was altering shots. Moved great without the ball. Finished with 29 points, 13 rebounds, 5 steals, and 1 block.
Daylan Hamilton 6’2 SG / Klein Forest / 2020
Played solid on the defensive side of the ball. Has a quick release on his jump shot. Quick lateral movement. Attacked his man off the dribble. Got in the paint and finished through contact. Great motor high energy guy. Finished the game with 14 points and 3 steals.
Bonke Maring 6’9 C / Cypress Springs / 2019 [Blinn JuCo] PHTX200
Had a great game. Played well in the low post. Good post control for positioning. Footwork and ball fakes were good. Super active on the glass also. Was able to get teammates involved in the game from the post. Finished with 18 point, 12 rebounds, and 2 blocks.
Clayton Maywald 6’3 SG / Cypress Springs / 2019
Shot the ball well. Moves well without the ball. Runs off of screens with hands in shooting position. Finished the game with 12 points. Shot 3/5-3FG in the game.
