This season was a great one, full of a lot of high level games, and some pretty stellar performances. These are the guys that I think are going to have a huge summer, either continuing their success this season or finding new success come this summer.
Ty Ty Washington (6’3 G Cesar Chavez 2021)
Ty Ty Washington has had a huge growth in height and performance this season. He was already a top prospect in the Class of 2021 and by far had the biggest growth in his game this season. I think he continues this “hot streak” into the summer and has a huge season playing for Team Harden. Is it really a hot streak if he’s been doing it all season long?
DaRon Holmes (6’9 F Millennum 2021)
Another top prospect in the Class of 2021 is DaRon Holmes. Currently, he has led his high school team to the 5A State Championship game that will be played tonight! That is certainly no easy task, especially for a sophomore. He had a great season last summer and should continue this high level play going into this summer.
Evan Nelson (6’1 G Salpointe Catholic 2020)
Evan Nelson was the talk of the town in last year’s playoffs. Unfortunately, I feel like he is not talked about as much anymore which is a shame because I think he’s only gotten bigger and better. He will certainly become a player everyone talks about once again this summer.
Kyree Walker (6’6 G Hillcrest Prep 2020)
Kyree Walker had a historic season this year, breaking 2000 points for his career at Hillcrest Prep. He averaged 30 points per game, which I think is absolutely insane. Do I expect him to slow down anytime soon? Absolutely not. Kyree Walker is going to do what Kyree Walker does and that’s score the ball at an incredible rate.
Carson Basham (6’10 F Sunnyslope 2021)
I think Carson Basham is going to have a huge summer that will really improve his recruiting. This high school season, he did not get nearly enough playing time as everyone anticipated he would. In my opinion, I think he should’ve been used a lot more but I am not the coach of that team. However, this summer Carson will get a chance to show why he is considered one of the top prospects in his respective class.
Dalen Terry (6’5 G Hillcrest Prep 2020)
Much like his teammate, Kyree Walker, Dalen Terry had a huge season over at Hillcrest Prep. He led the nation in assists, around 12 a game. Terry plays on one of the best, if not the best, AAU organizations in the entire country. He is going to keep up this play, get a lot of media attention, and gain a lot more college interest.
Justus Jackson (6’0 G Millennium 2021)
Justus Jackson had a really good regular season but he has really come alive in this year’s playoffs. I think we can expect these performances from now on. He has received an offer from GCU and I think that is just the tip of the iceberg for him. Expect a lot more offers and college interest to come this summer.
JT Elder (6’7 F Cienega 2021)
JT Elder really blew up and was put on people’s radars last AAU season. This high school season, I feel like he didn’t get the recognition he deserved. If you want proof look no further than the AIA Awards for 5A Southern. Despite nearly leading his team in points, rebounds, and assists, he was left off of all awards completely, while other players on his own team made the 1st-Team, 2nd-Team, and Honorable Mentions despite their lower production and lesser stat lines. Nevertheless, JT Elder will have a huge summer just as he did last year. He will make the case that he should be considered as a top 5 players in the class of 2021.
Dre Henry (6’6 F Mountain Pointe 2020)
Dre Henry plays with two very talented players and I feel like he gets a bit overshadowed because of it. He is a great player and had a terrific season. He is the future of his high school team and should gather up some serious college interest this AAU season.
Bailon Black (6’2 G Ironwood 2021)
Bailon Black is another kid that I felt was snubbed come award season. There are players that got awards that do not come close to touching his level of talent and basketball IQ. Bailon has already made himself a known figure this season and I only expect it to grow bigger and bigger.
