Continue ReadingThe Piqua brackets in Division IV are not underdog heavy. Most of the higher seeded teams I predict will advance, but not without several tight games. Below are my predictions in the Sectional rounds.
Piqua 1
Ansonia over Mississinawa Valley- Tigers will be too much for Mississinawa to handle. Hunter Muir (2019) will play a huge role in the post.
Fort Loramie over Covington- The Redskins are winners of 6 of their last 8 games. They face a Covington team giving up 57 points per game and will struggle defending the perimeter.
Ansonia over Botkins- Botkins has lost 3 of their last 4. Trojans will keep things close, but will not be able to win unless they defend Muir.
Fort Loramie over Riverside- Redskins will continue to roll against a struggling Riverside squad.
Sectional Final: Fort Loramie over Ansonia- It will be a battle of both sides of the ball. Fort Loramie has a great backcourt led by Eli Rosengarten (2019) that will make Ansonia respect them. Ansonia will use their height and attempt to make a difference. In the end, we expect Fort Loramie will find themselves playing in their third straight District title game.
Piqua 2
Fairlawn over Lehman- The Jets just defeated the Cavaliers yesterday and should win another matchup in the sectional opener.
Russia over Mechanicsburg- Mechanicsburg will be unable to keep the Raiders off the glass and will lose.
Jackson Center over Triad- Cardinals are winless this season, and we do not expect their first win to come against the #1 team in the bracket.
Russia over Fairlawn- Raiders have defeated Fairlawn by double digits in both matchups so far this season. The third matchup will be tough, but Russia is well coached and will advance.
Jackson Center over Bradford- Another winless team faces off against the Tigers. Jackson Center will advance with ease.
Jackson Center over Russia- For the third time this season, the Raiders and Tigers will face off for a spot in the District title game on the line. Russia has the size to be competitive, but Jackson Center will hold on and advance.
