Another great group of games and prospects this past Friday and Saturday. Here we break down the players in attendance in O’Fallon Shootout: 2019 Evaluations Part 2!
SG Antonio Reeves (Simeon)
Reeves is one of the hottest names on the recruiting trail in the senior class. The long and lanky 6’4” two guard did what he does best in this game knocking down 3-6 from beyond the arc. Fluid shot with a soft landing. In the overtime session he displayed his improving game off the bounce getting in the paint for a floater and a couple other scores. Handles have definitely improved. Love his length defensively getting in passing lanes. He had 17 points, 5 rebounds, and 4 steals.
PG Kejuan Clements (Simeon)
Clements is a physical combo guard. Hit a pull up three, but also air balled one. He is at his best when he gets downhill to the rack. Did that a couple times against Belleville West. Struggled at the foul line shooting it. He had 8 points.
PF Jeremiah Stamps (Simeon)
Stamps played a nice game. The physically built post is a junk yard dog type of big man. He plays tough around the hoop. Connected on a mid-range jumper along with a tough and-1. Snatches rebounds out of the air. He had 10 points (4-5 FG) and 5 boards. Knows his role on the team.
SG Myles Baker (Whitney Young)
It wasn’t the most impressive shooting performance out of the Dolphins two guard who is among the top uncommitted posts on the board, but he made a huge impact defensively. Baker guarded the much taller Patrick McCaffery and severely limited his production. The senior was aggressive using his quickness and pressuring the Iowa commit. Baker offensively had a euro step and a transition finish. His defense was what really stood out. He had 10 points, 5 rebounds, and 3 steals.
SF Keenan Jones (Whitney Young)
Jones is a versatile swing forward that can play both spots at the next level. The long and angular forward was very effective playing his role. Defends multiple positions and uses his length to cut passing lanes which he can take the other way for scores. Active on the offensive glass for tip dunks. Also an underrated passer. Going to be a great role player for the college that lands him as he can play multiple positions, defend several spots, and plays his role. Went for 5 points, 5 rebounds, 4 steals, and 4 assists.
SG Marshall Harrison (Collinsville)
Harrison is an under recruited 6’3” shooting guard with a strong and athletic frame. Came off the bench in this one to be a major weapon. Physical finishing down low. Big time rebounder for his size especially on the offensive glass. Did well as a wing finisher in transition. Only hit 1-3 from deep, but shows he should be an effective shooter in college. Willing defender. He had 18 points and 9 rebounds.
G Zane Baker (Collinsville)
Baker is a 5’11” combo guard that sacrifices his body to make plays. Score on difficult layups, runners, and a catch and shoot three. Also was a sound passer getting others involved. He had 7 points and 5 dimes.
PG Larry Hemmingway (Springfield Lanphier – 2019)
Hemmingway had the game of his career on Friday! The 5’10” point guard is a long and lanky guard. Was absolutely lights out shooting! Everything he put up from three went in. Was raining in pull up threes like Steph Curry. Clean and fluid release on his shot. He mixed in a couple takes, but the majority of his points were threes as he went 7-11 from deep en route to 35 points! Worth a look for small colleges.
PG Shea Cupples (Normal West)
Cupples is a senior point guard with the potential to play at the small college level. Sound perimeter shooter with a clean looking stroke from beyond the arc. Hit them both off the catch and had a couple impressive step back triples. Shows creativity as a passer with several nice finds, but also like when we saw him at Highland he struggles with turnovers. He went for 22 points (7-18 FG), 5 assists, 10 turnovers, and 4 steals.
SG Terance Montgomery-Fisher (Normal West)
Montgomery-Fisher is an angular two guard with plus athleticism. Really good rebounder in traffic with his springy legs. Consistently high-pointed them in contested situations. Was effective on the offensive glass. Struggled shooting from deep, but did connect on way to 7 points and 7 boards.
PG Jonah Ogden (Triad)
Ogden is a guard that isn’t the most explosive kid, but is crafty in the lane and can hit an occasional three. He had 9 points.
SG Kyle Dismukes (O’Fallon)
Nice game out of this two guard against Triad as he notched 10 points. Scrappy guard that scores in the lane and on mid-range pull ups.
