The season is winding down. With region tournaments on the horizon, the last chances for teams to earn solid wins before the postseason are now. With so many regions being tight, there are still a lot of opportunities to pick up statement and standing-changing wins.
Here are some teams that had particularly good weeks:
Beulah
Don’t sleep on the Miners. After a slow-ish start to the season, Beulah has turned things on to the point that they look like the favorite to go to the state tournament out of Region 7. They picked up a massive win last week, beating Shiloh Christian 73-68 behind senior guard Chad Morsette’s 35 points. Morsette was terrific again in the team’s win over Mott-Regent later in the week, dropping 24 points while knocking down four 3-pointers.
Four Winds/Minnewaukan
The Indians just keep on chugging along towards the postseason. Four Winds earned two wins last week; one in blowout fashion over Harvey/Wells County and another in hotly-contested fashion over state-ranked Rugby. Doug Yankton was an absolute force in that one, finishing with 25 points and 20 rebounds.
Dickinson Trinity
The Titans are right there with Beulah as a favorite to come out of Region 7 and they had a good week last week, earning two solid Region victories. Trinity beat Mott-Regent to start the week before beating fellow Region 7 contender, Glen Ullin-Hebron, 43-37. The Titans got 12 points from Cole Fitterer and 11 from Matthew Stafford to improve to 14-5 on the season.
