Here are some of the ever-important games at the Class B level this week:
Hillsboro/Central Valley at Thompson – Tuesday, Feb. 12
Here’s a rematch from earlier in the season and possibly the second of three games these two teams will play against one another. Arguably the two best teams in Class B. There’s a whole bunch of intrigue to it. Thompson beat the Burros last time in a defensive slugfest without star guard Cadyn Schwabe but he’s back and he’s been terrific as of late. This should be a good one.
Rugby vs. Bishop Ryan – Tuesday, Feb. 12
Here’s another potential region final preview as the two top teams in Region 6 square off. Rugby and Bishop Ryan are fringe top-five teams in the state and both are loaded with top-end talent. Rugby just lost to Four Winds/Minnewaukan but has been dominant in a number of games. The Panthers will get a good test from the Lions who combine elite defense with a big three capable of taking over a game.
Dakota Prairie vs. Dunseith – Thursday, Feb. 12
If you want scoring, this one should provide plenty of it as the Dragons and the Knights are among the top scoring teams in the state. Dunseith has been really good for about six weeks now and looking like a potential contender out of Region 4. Dakota Prairie is the no. 3 team right now in Region 4, District 7 but has the kind of firepower that can put a lot of fear into any opponent.
