Teams are hoping to either continue ascending into the postseason or that the playoffs can bring about a new sense of energy.
Here are the teams of the week from Class A last week:
Bismarck
The Demons may have secured a second-place finish in the WDA last week, picking up a huge win over Mandan Tuesday, getting 12 points and seven assists from Will Madler plus an absolutely stifling defensive effort against arguably the best offensive team in the state. The Demons backed that up with a 10-point win over Turtle Mountain.
Mandan
Mandan took a loss to Bismarck early in the week, struggling to get anything going on the offensive end but rebounded in a monster way, blowing out Bismarck Century, 87-63. Trey Wiest scored 22 points on just eight shot attempts and Elijah Klein had a workmanlike 20 points and 12 rebounds. The defense in that game was terrific as well, as the Braves held Treyton Mattern and Cade Feeney to a combined 33 points on 41 shot attempts.
Fargo North
The Spartans earned a terrific upset win over West Fargo Tuesday, getting 32 points out of a junior guard Cayden Rickard. Fargo North hasn’t had a great second half to the season, but a win over a Packers team that had a lot to play for – an EDC regular season title potentially – should be worth a lot.
West Fargo
The Packers had a chance to end last week claiming an EDC regular season title but instead had to recalibrate things after an upset loss to Fargo North. The Packers certainly moved on quick from that stinker as they came back to beat Fargo Davies again, sweeping the season series. Braxton Bruer led the way, scoring 21 points and dishing out eight assists.
Fargo Davies
The Eagles went 1-1 against the West Fargo schools last week, beating Sheyenne to sweep the season series with the Mustangs while losing at the end of the week against the Packers for the second time. The win over Sheyenne secured the Eagles the EDC regular season title though.
