Teams are hoping to either continue ascending into the postseason or that the playoffs can bring about a new sense of energy.
Here are the games to watch in Class A this week:
Minot vs. Bismarck Century – Tuesday, Feb. 19
This is probably the best game of the week as Bismarck Century is hoping to move on from an ugly loss over the weekend at Mandan. Minot looked like it was crumbling a bit after a struggling few weeks in January but had a terrific week last week, winning three games and now has a chance to go into the postseason with some really good energy.
Wahpeton vs. Grand Forks Red River – Tuesday, Feb. 19
The Huskies have a chance to end of the regular season on a three-game winning streak and could rise up the EDC standings for the postseason. Both these teams figure to be competing for a fourth spot in the Class A state tournament out of the EDC. The Roughriders won the first meeting by 18. This one should be more competitive given the way both teams have been playing lately.
Fargo Davies vs. Devils Lake – Thursday, Feb. 21
Fargo Davies beat Devils Lake by 33 earlier in the season but the Thunderbirds have been playing better recently – even if they are on a two-game losing streak – and this could be a matchup we see again next week in the EDC tournament. The Eagles want to head into the postseason with some positive momentum – though they’ll have all the motivation they need given last year’s early exit plus the recent pair of losses to West Fargo.
