The 40 players to compete in this year’s high school all star series playing two games was recently announced. It seems the best time to put our imaginary list of Metro/Outstate names together to see what the game would look like. For the most part we are choosing the best ten seniors for each team but there does need to be somewhat of a balance when it comes to size and ball handlers so each team has enough.
The game used to be played at both St. Cloud State and at the Target Center in a Friday/Saturday double-header. The game was often fun and exciting, but also could be very competitive as several guys had something to prove while representing their community and their part of the state.
We start with the outstate. Here is our ten players:
OUTSTATE TEAM
- Matthew Hurt of Rochester John Marshall (forward)
- Isaac Fink of Springfield (wing)
- Jake Kettner of Minnesota Valley Lutheran (wing)
- Maleeck Harden of Moorhead (wing)
- Malik Willingham of Waseca (wing)
- Noah Christensen of Breckenridge (forward)
- Brandon Adelman of New London-Spicer (ball handler)
- Baden Noennig of Mayer Lutheran (forward)
- Carter Henry of BOLD (post)
- Matthew Johnson of Fergus Falls (ball handler)
METRO TEAM
- Zeke Nnaji of Hopkins (post)
- Tyrell Terry of DeLaSalle (ball handler)
- Tyler Wahl of Lakeville North (wing)
- David Roddy of Breck (forward)
- Jamison Battle of DeLaSalle (forward)
- Robert Jones of Prior Lake (post)
- Courtney Brown Jr of East Ridge (forward)
- Cole Nicholson of Chaska (forward)
- Jacob Beeninga of Wayzata (ball handler)
- Jack Middleton of Edina (wing)
Because of injury, vacation, or conflict with a national game we would have an extra player ready. Antwan Kimmons of Tartan for the metro and Logan Nagorski of Big Lake of the outstate.
Curious what the game would look like? Here is a You Tube video of the 1994 game at St. Cloud State that was packed as fans wanted to see Sam Jacobson (Minnesota), Brent Solheim (West Virginia), Jeff Ellens (Cornell), Justin White (Harvard), Micah Watkins (Minnesota), Kevin Conn (Wyoming), Mark Haggeman (Bowling Green), and others
