Caleb Mills picked up high major offers over the summer and is headed to Houston.
Ren Dyer is one of the highest scoring senior guards in the state.
Landon Henley is having a huge season and is putting up big numbers. I could see him walking on at Anderson University where he has committed to play baseball.
Jake Smith and Devin Bassett at Enka HS have each scored and shot the ball well enough to break records at the school.
So looking forward, some sophomores and freshmen in WNC that are starting to make a name for themselves.
Freshmen Dwight CanadyNate Brafford 6’7, F Tuscola HS-Length and skill are what sets Brafford apart at this stage. Can handle the ball at this stage and shows he would be able to stretch the floor at the next level. Good rebounder and is a decent passer. Can really step out and knock down the long shots. He had the game-winning three-pointer for Tuscola HS last night in a win over North Buncombe HS. Of the sophomore and freshmen in the area, Brafford may be the best.
Dwight Canady 5’9, G Hendersonville HS-The sharpshooter has proved he is one of the best shooters in the area regardless of class. He is going to be one to watch over the next few years.
Theo Antinori, 5’6, G Asheville HS-The WMAC Conference Cougars have used the freshman guard to come in and make big shots with a man to man defense being ran at them. Coming through screens and getting to his spot is what Antinori excels at. If he can grow some over the next two-three years he could be a college level guard.
Coleman Bryson, 6’2, G Tuscola HS-Understands the game and where to put the ball at an early age. Has a really good handle for a guy that was probably bigger in middle school than most kids. He has as good shot and has a high basketball IQ, stays under control and is a good passer.
