The first half was a back and forth matchup with New Life taking a 30/23 lead into the half , the second half is where New life got a good amount of separation and would get the win 70/54.
NLCA 2020 Guard Phil Martin Jr: Had a solid showing, when he is aggressive to score he is a dangerous player as he can knock down shots at a high rate. He scored 14 out of his 19 total points in the 2nd and 3rd quarters which helped his team to get some much needed separation from MZCA. D2 programs should be watching and tracking him for the remainder of the season and in the summer.
Mount Zion 2019 Guard Enoch Johnson: Another player who showed some production and potential that we liked, he’s a strong guard that does a nice job of attacking offensively as well as staying strong defensively. One of the team’s leading scorers throughout the day, he does a nice job of making the most of the opportunities he gets so he’s not necessarily a ball dominant player, which is something that will help his game transition rather smoothly to the next level.
NLCA 2020 Wing Reggie Raynor: The 2nd half is where he did most of his damage, scoring 14 out of his 17 total points in the final two periods. He’s athletic with good upper and lower body strength, so once he makes up his mind that he is going to get to the basket regardless of who is defending him, he is hard to be stopped. So far he’s picked up some Low Major interest which includes schools such as North Carolina A&T.
Mount Zion 2020 Wing Isaac Weaver: Has good size and skillset for a player on the wing, he’s about 6’6 and showed the ability to knock down shots and get to the basket. Although he suffered an injury in the 2nd half, we did get to see some flashes of his potential and how good he can possibly be.
NLCA 2019 F/C Jalen Love: This was one of the better showings from Jalen Love, he was pretty efficient for the most part. Rebounding the ball, which helped provide some extra opportunities for team, as well as showing he can step out and shot the trey ball on occasion.
Mount Zion 2020 Guard Stanley Salein: Provided a nice spark for the Mount Zion squad, he plays with a good amount of intensity when he steps on the floor and has some bounce to his step. Getting to the free throw line/drawing fouls was an area where he made a huge impact as he got to the line at a pretty high rate in the 2nd half.
NLCA 2020 F/C Jeremyah McWilliams: He is showing that he can be a double/double type of guy each night with scoring and rebounding. Scoring 12 points and pulling down what we feel was double digit rebounds, we are slowly but surely seeing the potential turn into production which you have to like. The more he works, the better he will be which will only lead to more colleges showing interest.
NLCA 2019 Wing Latrell Jones: This was one of the better showing that we saw from Jones this season, not necessarily because he was scoring the ball at a high level but because he was aggressive. He seems to be more confident with his play and initiates some contact on a few occasion which is something we love to see from him. JUCO and NAIA programs have been showing the most interest in him as of late
