Although there are a handful of teams that are worth notting there is one team that made the biggest improvement and that is American Fork.
Honorable Mention:
Taylorsville
T-Ville was winless last year but they improved by winning 5 games this year. They have some young players that could make a difference going forward. They are lead by 2020 6’3 CG Cameron Millican who is not only leading his team in scoring but in every statistical category this year. They have also had great contributions from Eric Giang and the Gavin Twins.
Herriman
This team has underachieved for years as they always boast a roster with top talent and players that end up playing at the next level. This year they are finally starting to look like the team they are on paper. 2019 PG Jael Vaughn has played well this year and has helped his team to actually be a state contender.
Judge Memorial
Last year the bulldogs struggled as they only won 3 games last year and this year Mac Tarver has this team playing in the 2nd round of the playoffs and could peak at the right time and make a deep run.
Woods Cross
This is another team that is reaping the benefits of a new coach. Wood Cross has received consistent play from 6’3 SG Jake Howe and 6’6 W/F Tyler Roberts. They started the year off hot but will need to make some adjustments if they want to make a run in 5A. They end the season against Bountiful and a win against the top team in their region could help them take that momentum into the playoffs.
Most Improved Team: American Fork
When you look at this teams roster even before coach cuff and his son Tanner Cuff came over you would not think this team would only win 2 region games, but that was the case. There are no games in Region 4 and it appears that that will remain the same for the next two years as well. American Fork has 4 starters that will play at the next level in Isaac Johnson, Trey Stewart, Hayden Franson and Tanner Cuff. They have reached the 20 win mark and are a viable contender to be the team to knock off Pleasant Grove who they lost to earlier this year. AF might have two cracks at them. They are playing more uptempo and their defensive intensity has surpassed the level that they were at last year.
