The two teams faced off early in January and it resulted in a 13-point McNeil victory. This time around was no different as the low scoring game was controlled by the Mavericks of McNeil. It was not one of the most exciting games to spectate, but McNeil ended the game winning convincingly by 22 points. With the victory, the Mavericks are now fourth in district with a record of (8-5).
Player Breakdown
James Curtis / 6’6″/ PF / Round Rock McNeil / 2019
Curtis is a solid built unsigned senior that can play physical in the paint or stretch the defense with his skill on the perimeter. He hit spot-up and one dribble pull-up jumpers, saw the floor in the halfcourt, and bullied opponents while playing off ball. The big forward scored eight points but was responsible for much more in the district win.
Sam Latham / 6’6″/ PF / Round Rock McNeil / 2019
Curtis’ partner in the frontcourt is a dual-sport athlete who has Division I looks on the gridiron. However, the right schools would be quick to offer if he decided he wanted to spend his collegiate career on the basketball court. Latham plays hard and finishes through extreme contact. He has sneaky athleticism and will look to get off the floor for a big flush when given the chance. The unsigned four-man also scored eight points in the win.
Noah Robledo / 6’5″/ SF / Leander / 2021
Robledo had a very quiet six-point performance, but I do admire his approach to the game. He gets after it on the glass and is extremely active. The sophomore is capable of playing both forward spots and he has a nice looking jumpshot that he gets good elevation on. Robledo is a very promising prospect that is primed for a big spring/summer.
