We all know McEachern is currently ranked as the number two in the nation behind powerhouse La Lumiere (IN) and is the only public school currently ranked in the top-5 nationally. The 2019 Geico Nationals are just two months away and will be held once again in New York, NY at Christ the King High School on April 4-6th.
The Indians have been listed for the second season in a row as a qualifier for the nations best high school tournament. The only thing left for them to do is too win the Georgia class 7A state title. They have defeated powerhouse programs all year long and defeating teams like Paul VI (VA), Mountain Brook (AL), Imhotep Charter (PA) twice, Sunrise Christian (KS), Shadow Mountain (AZ), and others. 2020 PG Sharife Cooper and Auburn commit 2019 F Isaac Okoro have been the leaders of the pack alongside Northwestern commit 2019 F Jared Jones, 2019 G Alyn Breed, and 2019 PG Quinton McElroy.
Junior point guard Sharife Cooper has continued to put the nation on notice that he is without a doubt the best point guard in the nation regardless of class. He is the main reason why his squad is sitting at a 27-0 record and is not only a nominee for Georgia’s Gatorade Player of the Year Award but also the National Player of the Year Award. He averaged 26 points per game while dishing out 8 assists per game during McEachern’s regular season. His mindset, along with his teammates, is now focused on bringing McEachern their first ever state title and punching their ticket to New York. The road to the Geico Nationals begin for the Indians on Friday night as they host 24-3 East Coweta.
