Desmond Hutson, 6’4, G/F, 2019, Raytown (pictured)
A football standout who has signed to play at Iowa, Hutson is a superb athlete who can play above the rim, defend multiple positions well and has the ability to get on the glass. He likes to do the little things, whether it’s setting a tough screen or running the floor, but can knock down an outside shot, moves well without the ball and can finish the break.
Ty Baker, 6’3, G, 2019, Fort Osage
A tough, hard-nosed competitor, Baker is a high basketball IQ player who does what it takes to help his team win. He can score in the paint where he uses good strength, size at 6’3 and a soft shooting touch to finish tough chances in traffic, but can also cut and move off the ball or step out the perimeter and knock down outside shots. A Missouri State football recruit who quarterbacked FO to the Class 5 state championship game this fall, he is averaging 12.8 points and 4.9 rebounds while shooting 53 percent from the field.
Ben Bryant, 6’5, F, 2019, Raytown
Also a football standout during the fall, Bryant is a strong, athletic forward who has flown under the radar in KC hoops. He has some skill and the ability to play inside-out basketball as his outside shooting helps stretch the floor for the Blue Jays. However, Bryant has also shown he can mix it up in the paint, get on the glass and even score points in the post. A standout tight end/defensive end for Raytown, Bryant recently committed to play football at Morningside.
Eli Dowis, 6’3, G/F, 2019, Maryville
Dowis is one of the top two-way athletes in the Kansas City area as he put together a terrific season on the football field, and has since taken over on the hardwood, putting together a highlight reel worthy senior season for the Spoofhounds. He is a tough, no-nonsense guard who can defend, rebound and score — and plays above the rim, capable of throwing down highlight dunks. Dowis has committed to play football at Northwest Missouri State.
Dawson Herl, 6’5, G, 2019, William Chrisman
A standout football player who has committed to play at Missouri Southern, Herl brings the quarterback skills he displays in the fall to the hardwood as he has good court vision and playmaking skills. A big guard at 6’5, Herl can create and make tough shots, brings leadership skills to the floor and is a standout perimeter shooter.
