Rich Johnson, 6’0, G, 2019, Lee’s Summit West
Johnson was a key member of one of Kansas City’s premier teams a year ago as a junior, but has taken on an even larger role this season as the Titans primary ball handler and most experienced returning player. He can score from all the floor, whether that’s knocking down the 3, driving to the basket or scoring in transition. Johnson has elite quickness and plays with confidence and moxie.
Ahmad Louis, G, 2019, Oak Park (MP)
Louis got some valuable playing time a year ago for a standout Oak Park team and mostly played a supporting role as part of a talented squad. But this year, Louis has taken on the role of team leader for the Northmen and has shown he is among the most underrated guards in Kansas City. Louis is averaging 24.3 points, 3.5 rebounds and 3.2 assists per game this season and has a pair of 40-point performances, including a contest against Liberty at the William Jewell Tournament where he went for 43 points. He has a strong an all-around offensive game, terrific athleticism, a quick first step and the ability to put the ball in the hole from all over the court. Louis is a standout 3-point shooter as evidenced by his 80 makes in 23 games this season.
Stevie Strong, 6’0, G, 2021, University
Coming off a big offseason with MoKan Elite’s 15U squad, Strong has put together a huge season for University, averaging better than 30 points per game and establishing himself as one of the premier players in his class in the KC area. A terrific 3-point shooter, Strong can lead a team at the point, create offense off the dribble and can shoot off the catch or create his own shot off the bounce. He likes to attack the basket and can use the threat of the 3-point shot to clear space for himself as well. He is coming off a 51-point performance against Pembroke Hill on Feb. 12, one of the highest scoring totals in Missouri this season.
Grant Stubbs, 6’5, F, 2020, Liberty
Stubbs is putting together a monster 2018-19 season for Liberty. Armed with good size, athleticism and a long, rangy build, Stubbs has been a nightmare match-up for opponents as he can score on the block, works hard for position in the paint, but can also face the basket and attack out of the high post. He has a unique ability to finish tough chances in the paint over larger defenders and is an aggressive rebounder to boot. He has put together a big junior season and seen his stock soar in the process.
