Cooper DeJean (OA-BCIG)
What a season DeJean is having, easily one of the better sophomore campaigns we’ve seen in the last five years. Last week, he was better than he’s been all season; the athletic 5’11 guard averaged 36.5 points on 57 percent shooting, 12 rebounds and 3.5 assists per game.
Cliff McCray (Sioux City West)
McCray’s Wolverines got two wins last week, over Council Bluffs Jefferson and South Sioux City, he was dominant in both games. The 6-foot-2 Southwest Minnesota signee averaged 29 points on blistering 77 percent shooting. He also averaged eight assists and 7.5 rebounds. McCray is having as good of a season as anyone in Iowa.
Trey Hinote (Greene County)
One of the best offensive threats in the state, Hinote was possessed last week in two wins for the Rams. Against Panorama on Monday night, the 6-foot guard went for 35 points. That was his second best scoring performance of the week. Hinote went for 44 points against Saydel on Friday. The senior is averaging 22.3 points per game this season.
Malga Yanga (Storm Lake)
Storm Lake got two massive wins last week, Thursday night against Western Christian and the next night against Spirit Lake. Malga Yanga, a 6’4 wing, went for 21 points, three rebounds, three assists and three steals against the Wolfpack. He was even better against the Indians, going for 31 points, 10 rebounds and four assists.
Will Clapper (Baxter)
In a pair of Bolts wins last week, Will Clapper continued to shred opponents. He’s been dominant this year, and against Waterloo Christian School he was especially good, going for 29 points on 14-19 shooting. The next night out, against Collins-Maxwell, he went for 24 points on 8-12 shooting and 11 rebounds.
