Hustle Region Preview: V3’s Hoop Dream Academy
We may be on the tail end of high school basketball season but it’s not too early to look ahead to what’s coming up on the AAU circuit. Over the next few months we will be taking a look at the teams that will be participating in the Prep Hoops Circuit Hustle Region and here’s a look at V3’s Hoop Dream Academy.
The Hoop Dream Academy will compete in the 16U and 17U age divisions of the Hustle Region and will be at Hustle Season Kickoff.
I recently caught up with V3’s Hoop Dream Director Vernon Daniels III to learn more about the program and what to expect from his teams this season:
Why did you start your program? How long have you been around?
I started my program as a way to help kids develop their game and to give them a chance to be seen by colleges so they may give themselves a chance to earn a scholarship. This is our first year running.
What is the goal of your program for 2019?
The goal for 2019 is to put this program and it’s players on the map and in the faces of as many college programs that we can.
What is your program’s mission each year?
Our mission each year (starting off) is to get our seniors and juniors an offer at any level.
Do you know of any players that will be back in your program this year? Who should we have our eye on?
I have a very exciting crop of players coming in for tryouts this Friday, I can give you guys to look out for more accurately after tryouts. On my senior team two players to watch are Justin Stidhum (5’10, 165) and Shavere Yarde (6’1 180).
Why did you choose the Prep Hoops Circuit?
We chose prep circuit events due to level of competition and exposure that could be provided.
