Hustle Region Preview: O.C. Rain
We may be in the middle of high school basketball season but it’s not too early to look ahead to what’s coming up on the AAU circuit. Over the next few months we will be taking a look at the teams that will be participating in the PrepHoops Circuit Hustle Region and here’s a look at O.C. Rain out of California.
O.C. Rain will have teams in the 17U division of the Hustle Region and will be participating in the #HustleSzn Kickoff, Hustle in the Sun, and Hustle Region Finals.
Here’s a transcript of a conversation we had with O.C. Rain coach Stephen Beseda.
Why did you start your program? How long have you been around?
I started my program because I was a college basketball player back home in Washington State and when I moved to Orange County California, I saw a need for a great basketball program that elevates the game here in this area. I saw so many programs and worked with a lot of programs that were just in it for the money and not helping kids develop. So I started off on my own with 2 teams, shortly after helping with 4 other programs and they were all the same and it was frustrating for me. So I got my 2 teams rated in the AAU nationals in 2010 with a bunch of players no one wanted. After that I began to grow slowly and now I have 2 chapters in 2 area’s, Orange County and San Bernardino County, with 12-20 teams based on the time of year. Every player I have that is in my high school program has gone to play in College if they maintained great grades and completed my program which is built around getting unnoticed players, noticed and college player ready.
I have been around for 9 years now.
What is the goal of your program for 2019?
2019 goals are to continue to grow and build the right way with helping players achieve their goals in this game.
What is your program’s mission each year?
