Hustle Region Preview: Hard 2 Guard
We may be in the middle of high school basketball season but it’s not too early to look ahead to what’s coming up on the AAU circuit. Over the next few months we will be taking a look at the teams that will be participating in the PrepHoops Circuit Hustle Region and here’s a look at Hard 2 Guard out of Nevada.
Hard 2 Guard will have teams in the 17U, 16U, and 15U divisions of the Hustle Region. They will be participating in the #HustleSzn Kickoff, Bash in the Desert, and Hustle Region Finals.
Here’s a transcript of a conversation we had with founder and coach Darrius Banks.
Why did you start your program? How long have you been around?
Myself and Marcus Banks (10 years in the NBA) started the program in 2008 after watching aau/grassroots tournaments, noticing the kids weren’t learning how to play the game the “right way”.
What is the goal of your program for 2019?
Myself being a HS basketball coach would help an all star team of Vegas’ best become better players on and off the court.
What is your program’s mission each year?
Our mission is to play for ships “Championships and Scholarships” and that’s our goal every year. 101 boys and girls from our program have attended college since 2009 and now we are focused on making sure the all are graduates.
Do you know of any players that will be back in your program this year? Who should we have our eye on?
Our entire 17u and 16u teams should be kept an eye on because we have some very talented kids.
Why did you choose the Prep Hoops Circuit?
We joined the PHC because we thought it would be a nice change for our program by doing something different than the schedule we’ve done in past years.
