Sophomore forward Zander Yates added 12 points as well as sophomore point guard T.J. Madlock. The Mustangs jumped out to an 11-0 lead, thanks to back-to-back 3s from Tarrance and Yates. Houston led by as many as 16 points (19-3) in the first quarter and maintained the lead for the entire first half.
The Jaguars (21-8) cut their deficit in the second half from 39-28 to 45-37 heading into the fourth quarter, thanks to senior shooting guard Dionte Anding scoring 12 points in the period. Southwind got within five in the early minutes of the fourth quarter, but the Mustangs pushed their lead back up to 55-44 after junior forward Faizon Fields made two foul shots. Fields finished with nine points and went 5 for 10 from the charity stripe.
Houston sealed the win from the free throw line, going 4 for 5 in the final minute.
Anding led the Jaguars with 20 points. Senior point guard Ashton Taylor had nine, and senior point guard Ashton Smith added eight.
With the win, Houston clinches a No. 1 seed in the regional tournament. The Mustangs will host Memphis Central on Saturday. Southwind will be the No. 2 seed and will play White Station. In the earlier game, Ridgeway rallied from 16 points down to defeat Kirby by the final score of 63-60. The Roadrunners are the No. 3 seed and will play Memphis East, while the Cougars are the fourth seed. Kirby will play at Whitehaven this Saturday.

Madlock was named MVP of the District 15 3-A Tournament.
