Their matchups in the Dr. Pepper Classic were against Tennessee’s own Hamilton Heights Academy (TN) and one of the nations best programs in IMG Academy (FL) on back-to-back days. Both games were played at the host school McCallie School (TN)
On Friday, the Cougars drew a packed house as they were up against Hamilton Heights Academy (TN). Coach Anderson and his squad were taking control the first half and were up 39-27 at the break. Hamilton Heights started to receive momentum in the second half and ended up winning a close game 72-68 and 2019 SG Anthony Edwards finished with 34 points.
IMG Academy (FL) was the next test for the Cougars and drew another packed house against one of the nations top teams. IMG has three 2019 McDonald All Americans but Holy Spirit was not backing down. The Cougars did end up on the losing side of the scoreboard after falling 64-52 and 2019 SG Anthony Edwards finished with another team high 20 points. With that being the last out of state competition the Cougars will face this year, their focus now will be defending their state title in the GISA, which they have won in back-to-back seasons.
