The Chargers of Heritage Hall won the Regional going away against Plainview on Saturday night. There was a lot more to the story than what met the eye over the weekend.
Will anyone slow down Heritage Hall on their way to state?
No. Glad, we could get that out of the way quickly. The level of play Trey Alexander is bringing to the floor right now is special. Not to mention you have to guard Will McDonald, Jack Spainer, and several other players for the Chargers who will hurt any team when given open opportunities. Heritage Hall is now one game away from state and no disrespect to their opponent, but the Chargers are state tournament bound.
Trey Alexander update:
Our writers have each seen Trey Alexander multiple times this year. Unfortunately, due to my crazy schedule, this is the first time I have had the opportunity this year to see him ball in person. Alexander is leaps and bounds better than he was a year ago. Improved defense, court vision, and athleticism have all boosted Alexander to another level. This year Alexander has mastered making his teammates better around him with crisp passes out of double teams, leadership when they drop their head, and so much more. Alexander is High Major NCAA Division I bound. The four offers he currently holds will double if not triple with a good showing this summer. Alexander is a special talent any basketball fan in Oklahoma is going to want to see play. Don’t miss seeing this kid play you will regret it.
Nowell fun to watch
Blake Nowell had a tough night on Saturday but that does not discount his previous performance in the playoffs this week. Nowell is a spectacular athlete NCAA Division I bound in Football. The way he attacks the game at all times in all facets is what makes him successful on the gridiron as well. No matter what the time or score was Nowell was doing everything he could to help his team. The athleticism of Nowell jumps at you instantly. The program that lands him is going to get a good one.
Newcastle is rising
The Newcastle Racers are on their way to being a program to take note of in Class 4A under the leadership of Jesse Brown. After falling to Heritage Hall on Thursday they bounced back with two big wins to make it to Area. Keep an eye on Coach Brown and the Racers over the next few years as they are rapidly improving.
