Since then, a slew of current and former Division I and even professional basketball players have come through the program, ot trained at the WOTN facilities in Lakeville, MN.
The goal for the Minnesota-based program, though, is not only to set players up for future success, but to give them a memorable experience in the process.
Sam Opsahl“Our goal for this AAU season is to give our players a positive and memorable experience where they grow as players, build quality relationships with their teammates and coaches, and are able to showcase themselves as players and leaders by playing in high level tournaments throughout the season,“ said WOTN director Blake Nicols.
Getting their guys in the right tournaments, where they can receive maximum exposure is another objective of WOTN, which is set to compete in the Prep Hoops Circuit’s Hard Work Region this spring and summer.
“(Prep Hoops has) high character people running high level tournaments with the right mission in mind…it was a no brainer,” said Nicols.
“We want to make our players better basketball players, leaders, and people all while putting them in front of people to help them for their futures after high school.”
A quick look at the WOTN website and it’s plain to see the degree of high-level talent that’s come through the program since 2009. They’ll look to carry on that tradition this year.
“We have some outstanding players on our 17U, 16U, 15U teams,” said Nicols. “A few names to remember would be Avery Mast from Lakeville South (15U), Josh Streit from Eden Valley Watkins (16U), Kip Schnetan from Northfield (16U), Sam Opsahl from Goodhue (17U), Carter Patterson from Lakeville North (17U), Parker Johnson from New Prague (17U), Connor Schwoeb from Waconia (17U), and Jaylen James from Eastview (17U).”
