Hard Work Region Preview: JH1 Elite
We may be in the middle of high school basketball season but it’s not too early to look ahead to what’s coming up on the AAU circuit. Over the next few months we will be taking a look at the teams that will be participating in the PrepHoops Circuit Hard Work Region and here’s a look at JH1 Elite out of Wisconsin.
JH1 Elite will compete in the 14u, 15U and 16u age divisions of the Hard Work Region and will be at Hard Work Live, Battle at the Lakes, Summer Challenge and the Hard Work Region Finals.
I recently caught up with JH1 Elite Director Jeremy McGloghlin to learn more about his program and what to expect from JH1 Elite this season:
Why did you start your program? How long have you been around?
JH1 Elite is a first year organization. Jordan Hulls and I have known each other for many years and played for the same high school. Him and I had a conversation last March about him forming his own program. He loved the idea. And like Scott Thomas for JH1 Elite Ohio and JH1 Elite Indiana; we are very excited to represent Jordan and his brand to the best of our ability. What Jordan is as a person off the floor and what he is every time he steps on the floor as a player, those are the same values our coaches, players, and anyone involved with the JH1 Elite organization will carry themselves with.
What is the goal of your program for 2019?
From a program standpoint, we want to establish ourselves as a respected organization in the state of Wisconsin and across the Midwest region. We will strive to ensure each player in our program develops individually and that each team in our program gets the opportunity to compete in big games against high quality competition.
What is your program’s mission each year?
In starting this program, our vision is to be one of the premier basketball programs in the state of Wisconsin and across the Midwest region. Our emphasis and approach to player development both on and off the floor will be the foundation for our players to maximize their individual ability, and for our teams to compete at the highest levels of club basketball. A staple for our program is the focus on the individual player and more importantly, the individual person. We give players tools to excel on and off the basketball court. Teaching them life lessons they will apply long after the ball stops bouncing.
Do you know of any players that will be back in your program this year? Who should we have our eye on?
Our 15U team has nine players who earned spots on varsity rosters this season – many of which are making significant contributions to their respective teams. This group is expected to have the ability to play deep into tournaments and will feature a balanced attack led by 6’3 G Josh Terrian of Pewaukee & 6’4 G/F Leon Bond of Wauwatosa East.
Our 16U team has 8 players that have played significant minutes on their varsity rosters for their high schools this season. This team is returning 9 players from a season ago where they made 2 championships and 3 final fours. This long group of combo guards and forwards that all play inside and out on O and D will be a tough out in any tournament. They are lead by Ethan Safar 6’3” G Burlington, Marco Rajkovic 6’4” G Franklin, Owen Meyer 6’3” G Germantown.
Why did you choose the Prep Hoops Circuit?
It’s one of the best, if not, the best independent grassroots platform that will challenge our boys to be the best they can be, while giving them the exposure and opportunity to showcase their talents. We are excited for our 14U, 15U, and 16U teams to play on the circuit.
