Hard Work Region Preview: Indiana Red Storm
We may be in the middle of high school basketball season but it’s not too early to look ahead to what’s coming up on the AAU circuit. Over the next few months we will be taking a look at the teams that will be participating in the PrepHoops Circuit Hard Work Region and here’s a look at the Indiana Red Storm.
The Crown will compete in the 16U age division of the Hard Work Region and will be at Hard Work Live, Havoc in the Heartland and the Hard Work Region Finals.
I recently caught up with Red Storm Director Philip Johnson to learn more about the program and what to expect from the Red Storm this season:
Why did you start your program? How long have you been around?
Our original reason for starting the program was so that we would have teams to play in the tournaments we ran. 4 years later we have 22 boys and girls teams and is an Adidas apparel sponspored program. Our Elite teams play on the Adidas Silver Guantlet.
What is the goal of your program for 2019?
Our goal is to compete at a high level for our elite teams at exposure events and to continue to develop our club players
What is your program’s mission each year?
Develop our young boys and girls on the court and in school. Give our players an opportunity to perform in front of college coaches so that they can continue their basketball and education careers after high school.
Do you know of any players that will be back in your program this year? Who should we have our eye on?
We have 7 players from our team returning. Some of the key players are bigs Noah Pendleton and Chris McDonald who holds down the paint for us. Marcus Jones who is our defensive stopper. RJ Powell who does it all for us. Reggie McDonald who was our leading scorer. Thomas Fellmeth and Gabe McQuay who are our sharpshooters. We added a newcomer in Steven Pugliese who will do it all as well.
Why did you choose the Prep Hoops Circuit?
We chose Prep Hoops because we were looking for another circuit that will give us maximum exposure. I’ve heard a lot of good things about the circuit from coaches I know and I know prep hoops does really good work with the write ups. I felt it was a win win situation. We look forward to competing on the Hard Work Region.
