Hard Work Region Preview: Griffin Elite
We may be on the tail end of high school basketball season but it’s not too early to look ahead to what’s coming up on the AAU circuit. Over the next few months we will be taking a look at the teams that will be participating in the PrepHoops Circuit Hard Work Region and here’s a look at Griffin Elite out of Kentucky.
Griffin Elite will compete in the 14U age division of the Hard Work Region and will be at Hard Work Live, Havoc in the Heartland, Show Me Showdown and the Hard Work Region Finals.
I recently caught up with Griffin Elite Director John Gibson to learn more about the program and what to expect from his program this season:
Why did you start your program? How long have you been around?
This is our 2nd year for competing as a travel team. Last year we had a talented group of kids that were looking for some different tournaments to be a part of, and in conjunction with the fabulous facility that is Griffin Elite, we came up with a plan to help develop basketball skills physically and mentally.
What is the goal of your program for 2019?
Our goal is to prepare this very talented roster for the next level of competition. Increase their basketball IQ and teach life long lessons and experiences that help shape the next generation of basketball talent.
What is your program’s mission each year?
Create a positive, competitive atmosphere, that focuses not only the physical, but the mental aspects of the game, and how to incorporate life lessons along with basketball.
Do you know of any players that will be back in your program this year? Who should we have our eye on?
Our roster is as follows:
Caleb Brooks – PF
Daniel Campbell – SF
Matt Dreas – PG
Sam Gibson – C
Landen Hamilton – SG
Carter Krohman – PG/SG
Matthew Resing – SG
Timmy Stewart – PF
Sam Whitmer – SF
All are talented, and adds something unique to our team
Why did you choose the Prep Hoops Circuit?
I had been on the lookout to be part of a designated Circuit for a couple of months when I came across a press release for the Prep Hoops Circuit, and it seemed like a perfect fit for us. I applied right away, and I am looking forward to participating.
