This season was a struggle for most teams as they were unable to compete with the Rams. Fortunately, several names still impressed us and deserved All Conference honors.
1st Team
Amari Davis (2019)- Trotwood-Madison- 30 points, 7 rebounds, 6 steals per game
Our GWOC South Player of the Year, Davis edges out Samari Curtis because of his ability to make plays on both ends of the floor. Finished 2nd in GWOC in scoring and 1st in steals. Davis has tremendous length and is taking his talents to Wisconsin-Green Bay next season.
Samari Curtis (2019)- Xenia- 34 points, 7 rebounds, 5 assists
Our Player of the Year runner-up, Samari is a high scoring guard capable of taking over a game all over the floor. Led the GWOC in scoring and finished 4th in assists. A total offensive weapon. Curtis will be playing at Cincinnati next season.
Shaunn Monroe (2019)- Fairborn- 25 points, 5 rebounds, 5 assists
An under-the-radar guard with an overall tremendous offensive game. Whether it be scoring or assisting, Monroe demands respect against whomever he faces. Finished 3rd in scoring and 3rd in steals. Recently picked up his first offer, and should attract more attention from D2/D3 schools.
Carl Blanton (2020)- Trotwood-Madison- 19 points, 4 rebounds, 3 assists
A taller guard, Blanton had a breakout season in which he made it clear he can contribute to the Rams on both ends of the floor. Blanton is not afraid to play physical with anyone he faces. Finished 5th in scoring. Carl will continue to grow and only get better.
Damiene Boles Jr. (2020)- Stebbins- 16 points, 6 rebounds, 3 assists
This one may come as a surprise to some, but we are awarding Boles for his contributions to the Indians this season. Boles is a truly athletic guard with fantastic bounce. Led the team in scoring this season and coupled with Tolbert, could be a much better team come next season.
2nd Team
Justin Stephens (2019)- Trotwood-Madison- 8 points, 8 rebounds, 3 blocks per game
One of the best low post threats in Dayton, Stephens is a strong inside player with a long wingspan able to disrupt plays in the paint. Finished 5th in rebounds and 2nd in blocks. Stephens could have played basketball collegiately, but instead will play football at Toledo.
Jalen Tolbert (2020)- Stebbins- 10 points, 5 rebounds, 4 steals
A do-it-all point guard, Tolbert saw massive improvement in his offensive game compared to last season, and stepped into a bigger role for the Indians. Finished 4th in steals. Has another season to develop further and will form a favorable backcourt with Boles next season.
Joe Nickel (2019)- Fairborn- 11 points, 7 rebounds, 2 assists
A great utility player, Nickel can score the basketball, but also impressed us with his defensive skill during the season. Led the Skyhawks in rebounds.
Sammy Anderson (2020)- Trotwood-Madison- 11 points, 4 rebounds, 5 assists
Another great backcourt option for Trotwood, Anderson is a defensive back on the football field, and brings the aggressiveness on the hardwood as well. Finished 5th in assists. Will likely play college football as he is receiving offers from multiple D1 schools.
Ryan Brown Jr. (2019)- West Carrollton- 14 points, 5 rebounds, 2 assists
The senior leader for the Pirates, Brown led the team in scoring and was 2nd in both rebounds and assists.
