Jodaun Dotson – Rangeview
Dotson looks to have adapted to a new role. Last season he was the primary ball handler on this Raiders and this year he has played a bit more off ball and has not skipped a beat. He is scoring the basketball and has increased his season stats in every single category in his senior season. He is a player that really can see the floor and hits the open man but has the ability to score it in bunches. He is a shot taker and can get hot, he uses his body to finish on defenders and makes it a point to get to the free throw line. He can knock down the open shot and is also a player that makes it difficult for opposing guards. This Rangeview team has a solid group of guards that really get after it and with Dotson giving his all on both ends of the court they become an even stronger force.
Jaylen Eikenberg – Rock Canyon
Eikenberg has really come on offensively in his senior season. Jaylen went from an X-factor role player last season as he had one of the best scorers in the state on his team to now being the leading scorer. He is one of the strongest guards in the state and that gives him the ability to create mismatches down low with smaller defenders. Rock Canyon is not one of the fast-paced high scoring teams so he has what it takes to win a slow it down low scoring game that is set for the playoffs and half court offenses. He finishes at the rim and can also knock down shots but what will separate him at the next level is his ability to play defense. In my honest opinion he is the best perimeter defender in the entire state as he has the strength and speed to irritate any ball handler and he makes sure that his defensive presence is known from the opening tip. He is averaging 14.6 points a game to lead the offense and also finds the open pan as he is dishing off just under five assists a game but his work on defense makes it easier for him and his teammates to get going. I expect for Rock Canyon to force their will early on and defense and just know whenever you are up against the Jaguars it is going to be a hard-fought match.
Davon Walker – Grandview
Walker is one of the best guards in the entire region and will run the show for the defending state champs. He controls the pace and makes the right basketball play and his ballhandling makes it difficult for defenders to stay in front of him. He uses his speed to get to his spots and he picks the defense apart with either a mid-range pull up or a smooth left-hand finish at the rim. He plays within the offense and does not force many shots and when his 3-point shot is falling makes the Grizzlies a dangerous bunch from inside-out. He spaces the floor, runs the fast break and is a great finisher and I am sure that he is ready to have another crack at winning another championship.
Christopher Speller – Range view
Speller is a bigger guard that can handle the ball and sees the floor well. Speller keeps his head up for the open man and can get passes in a tight window. He is an athletic finisher that can score at the rim and has a very mature game. He is averaging 11.0 points a game and leads the team in assists as the primary ball handler at 4.0 assists a game. He also has the size to gi down and rebound and what is a great quality is his on-ball defense. He has quick feet and stays in front of his man, he uses his body well on defense and takes pride on that side of the ball which opens things up for the offense. This Range view team is deep and when he gets going it makes them a tough bunch to beat.
