Today we look at Texas MEL Elite who will have teams competing on the 15U, 16U, and 17U circuits. This squad will be at the #GrindSzn Kickoff, Mayhem in the Plex, and the Grind Region Finals.
Below is our chat with program director Melvin Holloway previewing this upcoming season:
Why did you start your program? How long have you been around?
Texas Mel Elite has been around for 5 years. It is a spin-off of Texas Elite (been around for 25 years). I started the program because of my son Melvin Holloway. I watched how other programs were not helping kids, so I stepped in to do my part.
What is the goal of your program for 2019?
Our goal for 2019 is to play in as many high level tournaments as possible and transfer the hard work put out in practice into the games.
What is your program’s mission each year?
Our program’s mission each year is to compete and get each kid ready for the next level of life, sports, and/or academics.
Do you know of any players that will be back in your program this year? Who should we have our eye on?
Class of 2020: Stephen Faramade, Melvin Holloway, Westley Sellers, and Jordan Henderson
Class of 2021: Azari Woods
Class of 2022: Derrick Rhodes and Joshua Hollis
Why did your program choose the Prep Hoops Circuit?
I like how the Prep Hoops staff takes advantage of the platform that they have established. Their growth over the past year was tremendous.
