Grind Region Preview: Old School Wings
We may be in the middle of high school basketball season but it’s not too early to look ahead to what’s coming up on the AAU circuit. Over the next few months we will be taking a look at the teams that will be participating in the PrepHoops Circuit Grind Region and here’s a look at Old School Wings out of Arkansas.
Old School Wings will have a team in the 15U division of the Grind Region and will be at the Mayhem in the Plex, Show Me Showdown, and Grind Region Finals.
Here’s a transcript of a conversation we had with coach Nigel Wright.
Why did you start your program? How long have you been around?
OSW (Old School Wings) started 2 years ago to teach the game the right way. Not only the right way, but ” The Old School way”. We strive to help our players reach their dream of playing basketball at the next level. More importantly, we wanted to help the kids develop life skills to succeed off the court and become productive men of their community.
What is the goal of your program for 2019?
Our goal is to get our players exposure and recruited to play any level of college basketball. Also, it is to build relationships with our team families that will lead to positive impact on the player’s lives years after they finish playing with our program. Also, we push very hard on academics to our players, letting them know that both go hand in hand in order to achieve what they want.
What is your program’s mission each year?
Besides improving our players’ skills and abilities, our goal every year is to help give each of our players opportunity for exposure along with offers and acceptance to colleges from around the country.
Do you know of any players that will be back in your program this year? Who should we have our eye on?
We have our entire team coming back this year with the addition of a few players.
