Nolan Hovland (Springfield, 5-10 junior PG) vs Drew Sagedahl (BOLD, 5-8 SG). Hovland is a hard worker that moves the ball well as one of the team’s best passers and creators in the halfcourt offense. Nolan doesn’t shoot much at all but he does defend. The Tigers will need him to limit the 40 percent three point shooting and 14 points a game from Sagedahl.
Decker Scheffler (Springfield, 6-2 junior SG) vs Jordan Sagedahl (BOLD, 6-1 senior wing). Jordan is having an incredible year on both sides of the ball scoring 20 points a game shooting 57.4 percent from the floor (most attempts going at the basket) and making 80 percent from the foul line. BOLD will need his defense just as much in this game to defend players like Decker Scheffler. Decker is averaging 22.3 points, six plus assists, and nearly five boards a contest shooting 58 percent from the floor and 47 percent behind the arc.
Mitchell Leonard (Springfield, 6-0 senior wing) vs Gavin Vosika (BOLD, 5-10 PG). Vosika is the engine that makes the BOLD team go each game. He’s scoring 19 points a game and making 40 percent of his threes (half of his attempts are at the arc) while also dishing out over six assists a game. It’s going to take strong defensive efforts from the full Springfield team to limit Gavin and that includes guys like Mitch Leonard, a senior worker averaging 6.6 points, 3.4 boards, and 2.2 assists a game.
Isaac Fink (Springfield, 6-4 senior wing) vs Carter Henry (BOLD, 6-8 senior post). Fink and Henry are the two best prospects in this game. Henry is a raw but talented frontcout player that finishes explosively, changes a lot of shots, and grabs boards in big numbers. Fink is the tallest, strongest, and most athletic Springfield player so he is likely to spend time on Henry. This isn’t to say that they will defend each other but they will see a lot of each other. Carter is scoring about six times a game in the paint while Fink is averaging 31.1 points, 11.8 boards, and 5.6 assists a game.
Mitchell Buerkle (Springfield, 6-3 senior forward) vs Matthew Moorse (BOLD, 6-0 wing). Buerkle is the third leading Springfield scorer at 11 points a game plus dishing out 4.4 boards and 3.5 assists a game. Buerkle is making a third of his treys and 42 percent of his shots overall. Moorse is the fifth option offensively for BOLD but another key player on both ends. Matt scores 8.3 points a game on the seven shots he takes each each night.
