Broughton vs Leesville Road: Both programs came up with big wins in the Semi-Final round with Leesville Road upsetting top seed Millbrook and Broughton defeating SE Raleigh in OT. Both of the teams have some good guard play and we should see a battle in the backcourt all game long.
Players to watch: For Broughton we are going with Guard DJ Thomas, he is one of the best players under 6 foot in the state and just went for 26 points in the Semis. Leesville Road features Sophomore Guard Carter Whitt who has already picked up some HM offers and interest and is a very talented youngster to keep an eye on. The X factor could very well be Junior Deon Daniels who went for 32 points in the Semis for Leesvile Road, anytime you have a player that can finish plays as well as he did then you have a nice opportunity to win games.
Pender vs Dixon HS: In the games that they have matched up with each other this season, Pender has won both but they have been by 5 points or less. Dixon has been playing good basketball at the right time, with win over Lejeune and Trask to reach the championship.
Players to watch: Dixon HS Junior Guard Everett Lewis & Sophomore Guard Max Bailey are both players that you will want to keep an eye on. Both can score the ball with Lewis averaging over 15 PPG and Bailey coming off a 25 point/10 rebound performance recently. The Pender three headed monster features Sophomore Guard Khalil Marshall, Junior Guard Jajuan Carr and Senior Guard Chance Poole. All have shown the ability to score at different times this season with Carr and Marshall averaging close to 20 PPG a night.
Northside-Jax vs Havelock: They split the season series this year so this matchup for the tie breaker and championship should be a good one. Both have had solid seasons with Havelock coming in with a record of 12-10 while Northside holds a record of 14-7.
Players to watch: Seniors Christian and Shakur Frazier are players that bring a good amount of offense to their team. Christian is averaging 17 PPG while Shakur is not far behind with 13 PPG, big time performances from these two youngsters will be needed for sure. Northside-Jax features Junior Forward Quincy Martin who has been playing at a high level, Martin went for 18 points in the Semis and also pulled down 10 rebounds.
Wakefield vs Knightdale: These teams have met twice this season already with Wakefield getting both wins. However Knightdale is no push over team, they come in to the matchup with a record of 19-5 and have quite a bit of talent on their roster.
Players to watch: Wakefield HS Senior Guard Trae Smith has been putting up some major production this season, he’s had some 20 and 30 point game and we are honestly shocked that he hasn’t picked up more interest than he has so far. Wakefield Senior Guard Shayne Saigo has played well this year dropping over 18 PPG and scoring 22 points in the Semis to help his team advance.
