Here is the second part of the freshman standout lists from Florida.
ICYMI: Part 1
Jett Howard (University)
As the season has gone on and the responsibilities have increased for Jett Howard, the better the freshman has become. The 6’5″ guard and younger of the Howard brothers on University (formerly of Gulliver Prep) has been a reliable knockdown shooter for the Sharks. A gifted ballhandler as well, you can certainly see it with Jett, he’s got a keenness about him and he seems to always create as a passer and spot up shooter. His upside is clear.
Fanbo Zeng (Windermere Prep)
Raw, but long and determined Fanbo Zeng has all the tools to be a high-end center. The 6’9″ Windermere Prep big man is skinny right now, but he will add muscle and his ability to slow down opponents will improve. Zeng is a well-timed shot blocker and his passing is truly one of his best assets. He sees the floor well and has a long-range jumper in the making. Zeng is someone you can simply see it with. Tulane, FGCU and UAB have all offered.
Jaylen Martin (FSU High)
A strong and physical freshman, Jaylen Martin is as steady as they come in the paint. The 6’5″ Florida State University High guard/forward is going to be an issue as he continues his development. He’s already scoring in bunches and making life tough defensively. Martin holds an offer from Arkansas Little Rock.
Eric Dailey Jr. (IMG)
Just turning 15 last month, 6’6″ guard Eric Dailey Jr. is the centerpiece of the IMG White squad. He’s always in the gym and anytime I’m at IMG, he’s training and putting in the work. Dailey Jr. is not done growing in length and his burst and attack ability is clear. He’s already a polished shooter and going up against top international players over the spring and past summers has helped him mature quickly.
Dariq Whitehead (Montverde)
A part of the Montverde national team as an 8th grader a year ago, 6’5″ guard Dariq Whitehead is a blazer. He doesn’t get too much run with this loaded group, but the freshman has shown glimpses and is clearly ready to break out here soon. A New Jersey kid, Whitehead plays the game as such, a tough and hard-nosed athlete. His skillset is already thriving. He has two offers from Arkansas Little Rock and Rutgers.
