Norman North was missing several key players but did play the Bulldogs much closer than what the score leads some to believe. I expect both teams to make the state tournament in Class 6A. Get a look at what players made the Five Tool Report.
Scoring
Drew Tennial 2019 Edmond Memorial Wing (Signed to Texas State)
All night long Tennial annihilated the Timberwolves defense inside. Driving to the basket Tennial used his strength to overpower the undermanned Norman North defense. The high rate Tennial finished around the basket was impressive. By far though the most impressive thing Tennial did was dominating the offensive boards, which led to a big part in his scoring. The best way to describe his performance inside was a bully. Tennial gives the Bulldogs leadership on the floor along with his many attributes.
Peyton Vinyard 2019 Norman North Point Guard
Vinyard was the leading scorer for the Timberwolves providing scoring off the dribble. He does a great job of taking only good looks at the basket. The high percentage looks Vinyard hit led to Norman North hanging around for the entire game against the best team in the state of Oklahoma. Vinyard is going to be a great get for a small college at the next level with his high basketball IQ and intangibles at the Point.
Shooting
Sean Pedulla 2021 Edmond Memorial Guard
All year long I have heard about the success of Pedulla and tonight I got the opportunity to see what everyone has been telling me. Pedulla plays with a swagger about himself on the court. The crafty handles of Pedulla mixed with his high basketball IQ land him in great situations to shoot the basketball at a high level. Projecting to the small college level, Pedulla is one NCAA Division II programs are going to want to start keeping track of over the next few years.
Josh Crutchfield 2019 Norman North Forward
Crutchfield is following his brother Jalen’s footsteps taking over the role of being a knockdown shooter from the outside for the Timberwolves. Crutchfield does a great job of moving without the ball to find his open spots from deep. In catch and shoot situations from distance, Crutchfield is one of the most consistent shooters in the state. The shooting from Crutchfield will be very key to Norman North’s run at state.
Passing
Peyton Vinyard 2019 Norman North Point Guard
Vinyard was great at getting Norman North into their offense and into the best spots possible. Whatever the defense threw at him Vinyard did a great job of recognizing the defense using his vision and pinpoint passing to put passes through tight windows.
Jacob Thionnet 2019 Edmond Memorial Wing
Thionnet was great at passing the ball from the high post to cutting teammates around the basket. The height and length of Thionnet help him to be able to find passing lanes despite traffic jams.
Rebounding
Drew Tennial 2019 Edmond Memorial Wing
Tennial was a beast on the offensive boards bullying his way to rebounds. The physicality of Tennial inside on the boards added an extra second chance scoring boost for the Bulldogs.
Josh Robinson 2019 Norman North Forward
Robinson used his length to grab boards for the Timberwolves. They will need Robinson to come up huge in games using his length on defense to cause troubles and pull down big rebounds.
Defense
Jacob Thionnet 2019 Edmond Memorial Wing
Thionnet took on the challenge of guarding Shemar Smith inside and did quite a good job. The length of Thionnet allows him to defend taller or stronger guys down low. Thionnet is the swiss army knife for Edmond Memorial. On a less than typical offensive night, Thionnet was still effective for his team through the defensive end.
