Earl Timberlake Keeps Shooting Well
Over the past few weeks 2020 Earl Timberlake has made a lot of three pointers. He has always been known as a player that can drive to the basket with his strong body, finish in transition and finish above the rim but now it is officially time for teams to recognize that he can hurt you from deep. The shot might not look good coming out of his hands but the past month he has been one of the more better shooters in the WCAC and it is a dimension that can take a his game to another level.
Casey Morsell Makes His WCAC POY Campaign
As I have talked about before, 2021 Trevor Keels probably leads the player of the year race in the WCAC but I think Casey Morsell deserves a look at. Casey has been scoring the ball at an elite level whether it is finishing at the rim or pulling up from deep. He is also a guy that is always going to guard the opposing team’s best player. St. John’s would still be one of the tougher outs in the WCAC if they did not have Morsell but he is doing a lot of special things to keep the Cadets challenging the conference best.
Hunter Dickinson Comes Up Huge
Hunter played a vital part in helping DeMatha secure the victory Tuesday night as he hit the game tying free throws with 3 seconds left in regulation to send the game into overtime. He was all over the offensive rebounds keeping balls and possessions alive for the Stags. He finished with 19 points for the DeMatha bunch with 15 of those coming in the 2nd half. Once again his passing abilities were in full force as he was able to get the ball out to teammates when St. John’s would come with a double team on him.
Darius Maddox Shows Defensive Capabilities
It was not the best offensive performance for the junior but he made sure to make his presence known on the defensive side of the ball. He had four blocks including two on 2020 7’0 Hunter Dickinson. He showed that he is not afraid to go up against bigger players and challenge them to alter a shot.
Justin Moore vs Casey Morsell
There was a time early on in this game where Justin and Casey were trading baskets. Two good friends and longtime AAU teammates showed why they are considered the nations best. Villanova commit Justin Moore continued to show off his smooth pull up game as that is one of his most dangerous skill sets. On the other end, Virginia pledge Casey showed his deep range and ability to take defenders to the basket. It was a fun few minutes early on as these dudes went back and forth.
