Read about the five glaring points from the game.
Deep Touch
Columbia Academy’s offense leans on outside shooting. Five of the Bulldogs average better than 30% shooting from deep. That held true Tuesday night as Columbia Academy buried triple after triple.
Surprisingly, Mt. Pleasant matched Columbia Academy shot for shot for awhile. They kept the game within shouting distance thanks to hot shooting from a number of guards including Jacob Smith and Zyshon Alderson.
Zyshon Does it All
Destined to play college football, Zyshon Alderson heaped bucket after bucket on the Bulldog heads. Zyshon committed to Morehead State football and still his basketball game earned him both Regular Season and All-Tournament All-District honors.
Upper body strength gave Zyshon the power and confidence to ward off taller defenders en route to the basket. The Bulldogs run out 6-foot-7 Eli Hyle, burly athlete Sky Polk, and of course future D1 player Carson Cary. Their defense at the Class A level is expert.
Alderson finished from multiple points on the deck. Football remains his future, but the basketball present deserves deep admiration.

Silence Carson
Mt. Pleasant, perhaps wisely, elected to double and swarm Carson Cary throughout the game. Carson did manage to leapfrog 2,000 career points during the game, but he was held to 19 points, three below his sparkling average of 22.3 ppg.
Cary’s tag-a-longs included four different people, a rotating cast of followers. They front-faced him, shuffled through screens, and generally bodied him up and down. It did limit Cary’s touches though opened up scoring options like Eli Hyle to prosper.
Eli Hyle
His 25 points represent a season-high for Eli Hyle. Hyle voraciously, ravenously hounded the boards. He gobbled up offensive rebounds constantly. Hyle’s scoring came from both offensive rebounds and finishes in tight.
Eli Hyle has the length to be this dangerous every game. With Cary likely to get swarming defenses in the final few weeks of the season, Columbia Academy can truly benefit from this high-scoring Hyle.
Columbia Academy features enough talent and depth to overcome a lower scoring night from their superstar Carson Cary.
Keep Winning
Six straight district championships makes Columbia Academy a dominating force in Class A. In their final year in Class A, the unliked Columbia Academy destroyed the very programs that despise them. Again.
Columbia Academy gets the last laugh on their way out the door.
