Can either team make the state tournament?
There were two things to be decided on my end the Conference Championship but also could either be a state tournament team? Yes is the answer without a doubt for Collinsville and Claremore. The battle from each team was fun to watch. Although Claremore took an early lead Collinsville never gave up giving everything they had until the end. Each team has what it takes to take it to another level for the playoffs. The senior leadership of each team will help in March.
Great Passing
Pbo Wood and Bray Glenn anchor the backcourt for the Zebras as they play a duel Point Guard system. The stop and go ability of Wood mixed with always keeping his eyes up to find his teammates led to him getting some great looks for others. Glenn was terrific as well showing off his vision with the skills to pinpoint passes inside through tight windows. Both teams passed the ball well throughout the night. What makes each very tough to defend is how unselfish they play moving the basketball constantly until they find the best shot.
Scoring
It was a huge night for Bray Glenn scoring the rock at a high level. When Collinsville found a way to get back in the game with tough buckets from Peyton Dees and Nathaniel Serna, Glenn seemed to always have an answer. Most notably Glenn nailed a huge three-pointer and one late in the fourth quarter. Claremore also got a nice boost off the bench on senior night from the shooting of Caison Hartloff.
Glue Guys
Senior Forwards for the Zebras Matt Wofford and Levi Ewton brought their hard hats and went to work on Friday night. Wofford and Ewton are not guys that stand out from a scoring perspective often. You have to look deeper at their games inside with the rebounding boost and toughness they provide. If Claremore is going to make state Wofford and Ewton will need to be at their best. For Collinsville Gage Tacker was great inside giving them scoring and tough rebounds. Another prospect to know at Collinsville is Caden Fry who is just a freshman. He has loads of potential at 6’6 inside.
Atompshere
Last but not least I would be wrong to not highlight the great crowd at Claremore. The student section for the Zebras brought their A+ game cheering on their team to victory. Claremore has a tremendous community behind them.
