Contenders
West Clermont (14-5, 9-2)- Currently the leaders in the race the Wolves only have one game remaining with a team currently in the top four of the conference, a road game at Loveland on Valentine’s Day according to the ECC website. That could be a huge contest as the Wolves could need a victory that night to secure the bag. But a lot of that depends on what the next team we are going to talk about does as well. West Clermont maybe the most balanced team in the ECC with three players averaging between 9-12ppg, led by senior John Aicholtz (12.2ppg).
Remaining Games: Kings 2/8, Anderson 2/12, at Loveland 2/14
Turpin (14-5, 8-3) – Friday’s home matchup with Walnut Hills is the toughest remaining game on paper for the Spartans. I say on paper because on February 12th they have to travel to Kings, who upset Walnut on the 1st of February. But if Turpin can get some help from Loveland on Valentine’s Day against West Clermont, the Milford matchup could have significant importance. Luckily for Turpin they have the highest scoring duo in the conference in G Nick Haddad (2019 PHO #151, 16.6ppg) and 2020 G Jackson Holt (15.4ppg).
Remaining Games: Walnut Hills 2/8, at Kings 2/12, at Milford 2/15
In the Hunt
Walnut Hills (12-6, 7-4) – As mentioned earlier the Eagles suffered a devastating loss to their conference championship hopes with a five point loss to Milford last Friday. But they can makeup ground tis Friday with a win against Turpin, who already beat Walnut on January 4th 49-37. The Turpin game is the start of a tough 7-day stretch to end the season which includes a tough non-conference game against LaSalle. Coach Hill’s squad definitely has their work cut out for them.
Remaining Games: at Turpin 02/08, La Salle 02/09, Milford 02/12, Withrow 02/15
Loveland (12-7, 7-4) – The Tigers while still in the hunt, will need some help in order to claim the crown. They lost the season series to Turpin 0-2 and split with Walnut. And while they still have a date with West Clermont to end the season, they lost the first matchup with the Wolves 76-74 in OT on January 11th. Depending on what the the programs ahead of them in the standings do, that matchup with West Clermont could be for all the marbles or just the typical regular season finale.
Remaining Games: Milford 02/07, at Withrow 02/12, West Clermont 02/14
