CCL Leaders:
Bishop Watterson 9-7 (5-2): It has been tough sledding for Watterson out of conference, but they have been able to get it done in conference. With a half game lead over Desales, Bishop Watterson controls it’s own destiny in terms of a conference championship. With a recent win over St. Charles, Watterson has a favorable schedule remaining. Senior guard Zach Sawyer has been the heart of the Eagles this year, averaging close to 16 PPG.
Desales 11-6 (4-2): Desales, has played well in conference, despite a tough loss to Bishop Hartley last week. Desales will need to win out, and hope for a Bishop Watterson slip up, if they look to win the conference out-right. Kayin Derden has been the most productive player for the stallions this season, the Senior is averaging almost 14 PPG.
St. Charles 10-7 (3-3): St. Charles is a relatively young team, but a good team at that. 6’4 freshman Jared Frey has been a problem for opposing teams, putting up 17.1 PPG. The Cardinals will be a lot better down the road, but for now they are still a tough outing for area teams. After losing their last three games, the schedule won’t end easy, still also playing Bishop Ready and Desales.
Bishop Hartley 10-7 (3-4): Bishop Hartley is playing their best ball of the season. Winning their last three games, including a big overtime win over Desales. Bishop Hartley probably won’t have a chance at the league, but they still have a solid record and tourney to play for. Senior Morgan Safford has played out of his mind lately, going over the 30 point mark twice. The guard is averaging 24 PPG, a player low-major D1 programs should have on their radar late in the process.
