The Field:
No. 1 Fort Cobb-Broxton (22-7)
Fort Cobb-Broxton will look to win its fifth consecutive title this weekend in Oklahoma City. The Mustangs have been on fire this season behind senior point guard Kellen Hines. Hines has been a part of three of the ‘Stangs’ last four championships and will have the rare opportunity to add one for the pinky.
No. 7 Garber (24-4)
Garber enters the dance with an impressive 24-4 record. Garber’s greatest test will be proving it can play with the best of the best. It is 0-2 against other top-ten teams, losing to Okarche 57-59 on Dec. 7 and Frontier on Feb. 22 50-53 in the Area Tournament. Garber will have the chance to avenge those tight losses in its path to the Gold Ball.
No. 2 Glencoe (27-2)
Glencoe has the greatest win total of any teams in the State Tournament with a .931 total this season. Its only loss from another Class A team came on Feb. 22 against Okarche on Feb. 22.
No. 11 Whitesboro (23-6)
Senior Ethan Adams will be the focal point of Whitesboro’s production in the State Tournament. The Bulldogs have torn through the regular season, impressively only taking losses to larger schools, minus Class B No. 1 Kinta and an upset at the hands of Class A Smithville on Nov. 27.
No. 8 Okarche (24-5)
Okarche has the pedigree and resume to compete for the Title. The Warriors have claimed wins over Glencoe and Garber, both fellow competitors in the State Tournament. Okarche will carry that momentum in Oklahoma City this weekend.
No. 4 Kiowa (27-4)
Kiowa has posted an impressive 27-4 record to this point in the season and comes off a fight with No. 5 Wright City in the Area Championship to get into the dance where it took the 46-41 overtime win. With a win over a fellow ranked opponent going into the weekend, Kiowa is a dangerous team.
No. 6 Cyril (23-4)
Most impressively, Cyril is the only team in this tournament who has claimed a win over No. 1 Fort Cobb-Broxton. Cyril defeated the Mustangs 61-57 in the Caddo County Tournament on Jan. 25. Be on upset alert with this team.
No. 3 Frontier (21-7)
After losing in 2018 in the championship game, Frontier may have the biggest chip on its shoulder to take the Gold Ball home this weekend. Watch for Frontier to make its highly-anticipated run for a championship.
