Only four teams remain but only one can bring home that state championship. The class 7A final four will once again be played at the beautiful Buford City Arena in Buford, Georgia. Norcross and McEachern will begin things off for the boys side at 4pm local time while Discovery and Meadowcreek will face off in the night session which should begin at 8pm local time.
Norcross vs McEachern – 4:00pm Saturday
It is finally here, the rematch of Norcross and McEachern. Let us remember last season these two programs met in the elite 8 round and where Norcross just demolished the Indians by 20 on their home floor. This year is different. The Indians come into this one ranked as the number one team in the nation and where they are qualifiers for the 2019 GEICO Nationals that will be played in New York, New York in April. This year’s matchup will be on a neutral floor and bigger facility. Athletes of Tomorrow (GA) teammates, Sharife Cooper, Isaac Okoro, Jared Jones, Alyn Breed, and Quinton McElroy of McEachern and Brandon Boston Jr. of Norcross, will be competing against one another, for bragging rights of course, and right before AAU begins in a couple of weeks. This Norcross squad, like McEachern, represented the peach state well all season long nationally so the Blue Devils are battle tested for sure. Sharife Cooper has been on a tear all season and so has his AAU back court teammate Brandon Boston Jr. These two will not be friends once they both step on that floor and put their high school jersey’s on. Can Norcross pull of the upset for the second year in a row and make their third consecutive state championship appearance? This is a must see.
Tift County vs Meadowcreek – 8:00pm Saturday
This matchup here will be a first one to 50 points type of a matchup as two defensive minded programs will go head-to-head. It is certainly not a surprise that the Tift County Blue Devils are back in the class 7A final four game. The Blue Devils have been in the final now three times out of the last six years. Coach Wade and his squad are always slept on throughout the regular season due to them being all the way in south Georgia. Tift County has also taking the class 7A title back in 2014 and recently in 2017 so this will be a battle of the last two Georgia class 7A state champions. The defending class 7A state champs, Meadowcreek, will be looking to make their second straight state title appearance with the likes of their big three, South Florida commit 2019 SG Jamir Chaplin, UAB commit 2019 PG Jalen Benjamin, and Temple commit 2019 SG Damian Dunn. Everyone knows Meadowcreek plays the toughest defense in the state at the highest level. They are not afraid to get physical or talk a little trash to their opponents. This game should be a good one and Buford City Arena should be rocking and filled to the max all day long for these matchups.
