Tonight’s 8:00 NCISAA Semifinal Game is an intriguing one as the Greenies from Christ School in Arden, North Carolina take on Charlotte Latin School at the Ravenscroft School in Raleigh.
Christ School’s semifinal appearance is intriguing, because of their huge upset of the NCISAA’s number one seed, Charlotte Christian, which entered that quarterfinal contest with a 27-1 record.
Christ School’s effort was bolstered by the return of 6-10 220, junior center Justice Ajogbor who had missed most of the season, thanks to a leg injury suffered that he suffered in September. The big man, whose forte is rebounding and blocking shots, already has a scholarship offer from Tennessee among other high major schools.
Ajogbor had only four points, but he did grab 12 rebounds and block eight shots to make his prescense known.
Kojak Thompson, the Greenies diminutive, 5-8 point guard scored 13 points and played an excellent floor game for Coach Jeff Depelteau.
Christ School has a pure shooter in senior guard Brad Halvorsen as well as size upfront on their roster in 6-10 sophomore Gabe Wiznitzer and 6-8 freshman De’ante Green.
Highly rated prospect, Norance Berry, a 6-4 185, junior guard has reportedly returned from injury. He has high major offers, including one from the University of Tennessee.
Charlotte Latin reached its first NCISAA Final Four, in 15 years, when they coached by the legendary Jerry Faulkner.
Latin got 23 points and nine rebounds from Graham Calton in their quarterfinal win over Metrolina Christian.
Coach Chris Berger gets good guard play from the duo of John Beecy and Randy Johnson and good rebound work from Bennett Smith.
