Notable D3 Teams:
Harvest Prep (20-2): The two-loss Harvest Prep team is heavily favored to return to Columbus in March, rightfully so. Led by one of the best junior guards in the state CJ Anthony is going to light up any team in their way. A well coached team that clicks on all cylinders game in and game out. With an impressive win over D1 Northland, Harvest Prep has played some solid teams. Winning their last 12 games, they’re coming in steaming hot and confident. A super deep team that has been able to get a lot of playing time for the back end of the bench this season. If I was to guess, Harvest Prep won’t be challenged much for the first few games.
Worthington Christian (18-4): The Warriors have gotten hot at the right time, and are playing their best ball of the season. Having won 10 in a row and 11 of their last 12, Worthington Christian has it firing on all cylinders. The Warriors have been battle tested, with wins over solid teams like Columbus Academy, Grandview Heights, Northmor and more. A big part of the success is one of the best freshman in the state, DJ Moore. Putting up over 18 points a game, the elite scoring guard is going to do work in the postseason. Also, look for Worthington Christian to be a tough out this postseason as well.
Johnstown (17-4): Johnstown was one of the Division Three alphas this year in Central Ohio. After real solid play in the LCL, they should be ready for some postseason action. With good wins over Desales, Jonathan Alder and Grandview this season, Johnstown has a pretty solid resume on hand. Also, led by senior Owen Hazelbaker, JHS has that standout player that teams need in the postseason. The West Liberty commit is putting in over 17 points a contest this year, to lead the way. The Johnnies should be one of the tougher teams in the Central District this season. Not the deepest of teams, but a top heavy team with a couple solid players to lead the way.
Also don’t forget about:
Fairbanks (18-2): The Fairbanks Panthers have had probably their best season in recent history this season, tallying 18 wins. Not looking to stop there, the team from Union County will be taking on Bishop Ready in their first postseason game. Certainly not the toughest of schedules, Fairbanks does have two solid wins over West Jefferson. Winning their conference this season, Fairbanks will be looking to do a little more then just that. Needing to continue their well balanced offense led by Cross Hackathorne, should be a key for any Fairbanks run this postseason.
